Inserting "Web Friendly" Pictures

There is rarely a website out there that doesn't have some type of graphic or picture.  You may notice that (if using a dial-up modem) some Web pages can take quite a long time to show up.  They slowly begin to reveal themselves, and if they're lucky, you'll see what's on the page without running out of patience and leaving.  The reason for this: LARGE PICTURES.  Making your pictures "Web Friendly" before you upload them is essential to having a quick loading Web Page, and happy visitors!  Put your graphics to the test and see how they measure up to our tips on inserting Web Friendly pictures.

When editing a page, I click save, but it takes a long time, and the page isn't that big.  What's the hold up?

One problem could be the amount of HTML code that is being processed in the background.  HTML code is generated when you edit a WebMedley page.  However, when you prepare some text in a Word Processor (like MS Word), and paste that text into a WebMedley web page, you can exponentially increase the amount of code generated.  This is because of the formatting functions that most word processors have.  These auto-formatting features generate hundreds (or sometimes thousands) of needless tags and HTML code that will ultimately "clog up" the WebMedley Management console.

Solution: If you want to prepare your text in a word processor, be sure to paste in MS Notepad, then paste from there into WebMedley.  MS Notepad is a "bare bones" text editor that will leave behind and strip off all formatting code leaving just the text and nothing more.  Read more about this topic by clicking here.
