Getting the Word out

Most religious organizations have a publication that is distributed monthly or weekly like a Newsletter or a Bulletin.  A WebMedley website can make this task extremely easy, efficient, and faster than using traditional forms of publication (not to mention save a couple trees in the process).

There are two ways to publish newsletters in WebMedley:

1.       Use the WebMedley Opt in Email / Newsletter Publishing Module.

2.       Create a page yourself containing the Newsletter's information.

The first choice, comes with the Gold and Platinum packages, and can be added onto the silver, it is a more automated system that sends your email to a list of subscribers (who join the list using a sign up form on your website).  The second is more do-it-yourself, but can be just as effective.  You would also create the Newsletter as a Web page, but instead of emailing it to a list of subscribers, it would remain a Web page and be viewed at the leisure of the visitor.

Here are some instructions on how to do each:

Opt in Email / Newsletter Publishing Module

The WebMedley Newsletter publishing module is an interface, which allows you to create and preview a newsletter in the form of a Web page, and send by email to an entire list of subscribers.  These subscribers can join the list by signing up on your "subscribe to newsletter" Web page.

1) How Do I Change My Newsletters?

The Newsletter editor will appear as an extra feature of WebMedley, located in the list of folders on the left side of the management console.  Under the header "Newsletter", you will see a list of the newsletters on your account, a list of the subscribers, and an archive of past newsletters.

2) Attributes of Your Newsletters
To edit a newsletter, click on the name of that newsletter in the list.  On the right side of the screen (you will see the different attributes of this newsletter).  From here you can edit the title, whom the newsletter is from, and the subject of the newsletter.

3) Editing a Newsletter

Clicking on "Edit Content" will allow you to change the contents of the newsletter (similar to the "Edit this Page" button in WebMedley).  The contents can be edited in the same way a normal Webmedley Web page is edited, using the toolbar to form

4) Off To the Printing Press
Once the newsletter is ready to go, Clicking the "Publish" button will send this newsletter to everyone on your subscribers list.

Putting your newsletter on your site "manually":

Another way to publish your newsletter on your website, is to create it on a Web page, and allow visitors to view it at their leisure, rather than emailing it to them.  While this method does not create a personalized and automated mailing list for delivering your newsletter, is it is something you can do at no extra cost and it will allow you to revise the newsletter even after you have placed it online.

To start, create a new page, (Always be sure to give a new page its own "title" and file name).

Click on "Edit this Page", and proceed to build your newsletter in WebMedley.  If it is already built, you can paste in the text, but be sure to upload all graphics into a media library first then insert them using the "insert media" button on your toolbar.  Also, it's a good idea to have a downloadable version of your current newsletter on this page as well, to learn more on how to do that click here.

Once you have the current Newsletter created, you can now create a new page every time there is a new newsletter.  You can also create an Archive page, which could be a list of links to all the newsletters you have created a page for in the past, or make a list of  all your old newsletters in a downloadable format
