1) I use AOL or Netscape.  Can I still work on WebMedley?

Yes, but you will need to log into the Webmedley Management Console through the Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) browser.  The toolbar installs onto IE, so it is necessary to work on the site by using IE.  IE will run with ISPs that have custom browsers.  Simply minimize the other browser after connecting to the Internet, then start IE.

2) Do I have to be online while I work on the website?

You can prepare some of your content beforehand, such as typing text in a word processing program and then cutting and pasting the text in.  However, to actually load content on your pages or work with the other management areas of the system, you will need to be online and logged into your Webmedley Management Console.

3) Can I use my MAC to work on WebMedley?

Currently, the Webmedley toolbar, which is necessary for working in the Webmedley Management Console, is only compatible with Windows-based systems, using Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher.

5) I am getting an error message about 'session cookies'.  How do I enable cookies?

In Internet Explorer, click on Tools -> Internet Options.  Select the "Security" tab and customize your security level to allow session cookies.  You can also set your system to allow cookies by changing your security level from high to medium or low.  If you have further questions, contact support@webmedley.net

6) Can I FTP my FrontPage/DreamWeaver files into WebMedley?

No.  Webmedley is a unique, web-based system that requires the information to be entered within the Webmedley Management Console.  It has a WYSIWYG interface that is easier to manage and requires less technical skill than programs such as FrontPage or Dreamweaver.

7) I can't edit the page/My toolbar won't install.

Most likely, your version of Internet Explorer is not current.  You must have Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher to edit any pages.  (In IE, go to Help -> About Internet Explorer to check your version.  Upgrade at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads.) If your toolbar is still not installing correctly, make sure that your toolbar version is compatible with your version of Windows.  Toolbar v. 1.0 is for Windows 95 users.  Toolbar v. 2.0 is for Windows 98 and newer systems.

8)  When I look at the site (somewhere else) the layout is all wrong.

Variations in layout are typically due to older browser versions, such as Internet Explorer 4 and below.  There may also be some variations in layout when viewing web pages in Netscape or AOL browsers.  Mac computers will also have some variations.  Although your web page will be visible on all browsers, it is best to view web pages through a current version of Internet Explorer.

9) What if I use up all my storage space?

We will notify you if you have used the maximum storage space allotted for your account.  At that point you will have the option of reducing some of the content or upgrading your Webmedley package to gain more storage space.

10) I can't get into the editing space to make changes - my cursor won't go there.

If you have a solid line border around your content area in Edit View, you most likely are using an old version of Internet Explorer.  You will need to upgrade to IE 5.5 Service Pack 2 or higher at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads.
